The information below is provided as background material for the ECO-MEETs.  Download these files in order to prepare for the competition.

For 2011, please note these important changes:

  1. The insect list is divided in half to reduce the scope of material being tested to a more manageable size, with each half appearing in alternate years.  The 2011 list is below.  The list of other invertebrates (crustaceans, arachnids, mussels, etc.) is unchanged.

  2. Birds are the focus test for 2011 & 2012, so the bird list has been expanded to include all species.  Half will be used each year.
    The 2011 bird list is below.

  3. The list of fishes has been revised as well.  The 2011 list is below.

The maximum number of teams allowed to attend State is set at 28. Therefore, in any year where more than nine regional events are held, only the first and second place teams are guaranteed a slot at State. If more than nine regional events are held, the third place teams from each will be ranked by total score and admitted to State based on available space.

You must send in separate forms for regional and state scholarship money.
